Superhero Academy

My hats off to Katie for throwing such a precious "Superhero Academy" themed birthday party for Landon (4) and Kennedy (2) this morning! She really went all out--the kids even had personalized t-shirts, capes and masks to play in. It was a cute touch. As you can see there was also a "Gotham City" that I think Preston liked to knock down more than anything :) As always, it is always great so see good friends and spend time with all of your sweet children!!

On a side note, I think I know what Preston is getting for Christmas!! He LOVED riding the automatic John Deere tractor!!! Now, I used to say I would not buy Preston an "automatic" toy because I think kids need their exercise, BUT if you have ever seen my son in action you know that lack of movement is not an issue.....Oh, and sorry to anyone he might have run over!! Katie's Mom and the photographer I SAW get creamed....

Happy Saturday and GO DAWGS!

Best of Friends

Preston was so excited to see Ally at the Tech pep rally tonight! They were SO PRECIOUS together...sat there in their little chair together and did not move an inch the WHOLE time! (Really, Mom, he didn't!) The pep rally really pumped us up for the game tommorrow night--GO TECH!

Louisiana Tech vs Navy

As I have said before and will most certainly say again, it just isn't easy to be a Louisiana Tech fan!!!! The team looked SO good in the first half--were tied up going into the locker room--then came out and just did NOTHING the second half. My Dad and Jeff can give a more accurate stat but I think we just had two first downs the WHOLE second quarter. YIKES! Needless to say Navy pulled away and beat us in a heartbreaking first home game of the season.

Preston, however, was the big surprise of the night! I think any of you who visit this blog who are raising toddlers know that sitting still for a long period of time is just NOT something most kids will do. (There are those rare exceptions out there but we are just not one of them!) BUT, I will have to brag on my baby-man that for the most part he did a great job. Granted, I had to pull out ALL my tricks: cheetos, multiple cups of Sprite and OF COURSE my iPhone :) We stayed until there were just 3 minutes left in the game and I am actually looking forward to next week....IF it would just cool down some!

Oh, I almost forgot--the picture where Preston and Jeff are looking up they are checking out the B-52 flying overhead. Now, I'm not into planes or anything, but I will have to admit that seeing that beautiful bird fly over makes me feel incredibly safe AND incredibly proud to be an American!!!

Better luck next time DAWGS! We are proud of you!!! And as Preston says, "Roof! Roof!"

Girls Night Painting Party!

Even though it is clearly evident to me that I have absolutely ZERO painting ability, I really think our monthly "Girls Night" last night was a HUGE success. We have all talked about doing "Painting with a Twist" in Shreveport but because of the drive, length of time to pay a sitter, etc. we really wanted to paint closer to home. Sooo, in trying to find out about the Monroe option (which by the way I could never get in touch with), I found out one of my dearest old friends has started a Pack and Paint business where they come to you and do private parties. PERFECT! Nancy most graciously provided us with accomodations at the Toma Lodge and we were all set. I made some yummy apps-Katie's famous cheeseball, fruit/dip, mini-eclairs and Italian skewers-and we had ourselves a party!
We decided to go with the Fleur-de-lis so everyone could put there own spin on it and as you can see they did. Can I just say though that when Lyndsey (my old friend) saw the beginnings of my work, she and I both started laughing uncontrollably...almost like we were back at college studying for a test :) It's a good thing I was good at math and science is all I can say....
Anyway, I think they all turned out great and hope everyone had a great time. I have contact info if any of you are interested in your own party...and invite me please because I would LOVE to do it again!!!

Happy Birthday Pop!

Wow-it's been a pretty eventful weekend! My Dad turned 60 last Thursday, so we got together at the Bistro Friday night to celebrate! Isn't his cake THE CUTEST? My Mom had it made in Winnfield....

Saturday morning the girls left early to head down to Baton Rouge to make a final decision about Kendal's wedding dress and.......SHE HAS ORDERED THE DRESS! I can't offer to many details, should Kevin stumble upon the blog, but I can say she will be a STUNNING bride. The big boys played golf Saturday morning while Preston was home with a sitter, then they all watched college football together yesterday afternoon/evening. Too bad the Bulldogs did not pull out a win, but otherwise it was a perfect day.

We were all pretty tired from our long day, and decided to stay home from church this morning (we hardly EVER do this!) However, I have been very productive thus far: 4.5 mile run, trip to Wal-Mart at 7AM for essentials, car wash, fertilize roses, clean off back porch, change bedding....and it's not even lunchtime! Think I may nap later.

Have a great week and Happy Birthday Pop!

Louisiana Tech vs Grambling State 2010

For the life of me, I could not title my post "Port City Classic...."

Jeff and I had a great time yesterday in Shreveport at the Bulldogs season opener. We left Preston at home with Miss Mary Kyle and we rode over with Kendal and Kevin a little after noon. The four of us "tailgated" at Superior Grill and then headed over to the game. We did have some time to do some visiting, then got settled for gametime. We split our time between seats with our family and seats in the Community Trust hospitality tent. (CTB were the game sponsore....). Thankfully, the Bulldogs pulled out a win, and the weather was pretty much the best you could ask for. The only thing that was NOT fun was the hour wait to get out of the parking lot after the game...putting us home close to midnight. Think we'll call it a day pretty early this evening :)

Hope you are having a great Labor Day weekend. Because of how my work schedule falls (Mondays and Thursdays) I'm getting a weeks vacation....pretty nice!

And how could I forget...GO DAWGS!!!

"Hurt Payground"

Poor Paky! On his second day of MDO for the year, he took a tumble somehow on the playground and really bunged up his little eye. ALL he talked about yesterday afternoon was how he got "Hurt Payground" and bless his little heart he was all swollen this morning :(

I would not be concerned about this in the least except for the fact that we are taking family pictures next Friday!!! Oh well, that's what Photoshop is for, right?

PS--Please excuse the mouthful of banana in the picture...I am headed to work and we have had a busy morning!

Have a great day!
