NOLA Bound

Well, the time has come for me to attempt to run the Mardi Gras half-marathon! Jeff and I are leaving tommorow morning for a quick trip to NOLA and back. Preston is going to spend the weekend at my father-in-law's farm. He should really eat that up as it is supposed to be pretty here at least Saturday. As my dad pointed out-I am certainly not "overtrained!" HA! But, hopefully I will at least finish faster than my first half in Phoenix (2:09). Even if I don't, though, I will still be proud of myself for how far I have come. Because Jeff did not want me to, I really did not run at all while pregnant. (Ok, I did a little when I was past 37 weeks--I WANTED running to make me go into labor-but no luck!) So I have gone from running essentially zero to a half-marathon in 5 months. The site for race results is www.MardiGrasMarathon.com if you were interested in my finish time. And, of course, best of luck to Jana, Nancy, Mrs. Hunter, Jeanne, Lyndsey, Lauren and Jason (?).

Visit from Nana and Pops

Preston and I were so glad that Nana and Pops came to visit yesterday! Daddy spent the weekend at the duck camp and mommy was pretty lonely. Preston laid it on thick, too! He was really entertaining his audience. Daddy is home now, and we all had a great weekend. Hope you did as well....

Just for Aunt Kendal

When my sister, Kendal, requested that I post a new picture of Preston, I realized that I had not posted about Preston in a while! He is getting cuter every day, and for the most part is just a doll except from about 5-7. He will then sleep from 7:30 pm to 7:30 am so I guess I should not complain :) He loves to GO! He likes to ride in the car, or go shopping. (I guess he must be my son :) He is teething big time now, and sometimes will soothe himself by sucking on my arm--love it. Anyway, we are all doing well and hope everyone else is. Love you Aunt Kendal!

Vegas, Baby!

Jeff and I had a wonderful time on our getaway to Las Vegas last week! We enjoyed most everything we did, with the highlights being Cirque de Soleil "O" and our trip to the Hoover Dam. We loved staying at The Signature towers attached to the MGM Grand. They were new and nice and tucked away from the strip but a short walking distance away, perfect! With all of our family so close, we are so blessed to have lots of babysitters (!). However, Nana and Pops really stepped up to offer to keep Preston for an extended stay. Jeff and I both had a funny feeling about leaving him--but he was fine!! It was Nana who had to go to the hospital to be treated for dehydration and Preston took a trip to Alexandria to stay with my cousin, Kayla. Everything worked out just fine though.....what are the odds? We are glad to be back home, though. We sure did miss our baby man!!

Look Who's Talking!

Last Monday evening, after Daddy came home from work, Preston Luke started TALKING! Ok, not really talking, but baby talking for sure. We are not sure what prompted this change from his normal babbles, but he has now found his voice for sure. I have downloaded some video I took of him to YouTube and Facebook but for the life of me can not figure out how to get it on here! Oh well, I will try again later with a fresh outlook--I have been trying for days :) If you did want to see it on YouTube, the name is Preston talking 2009. Preston also has rolled from back to tummy then again to back--he still does not enjoy tummy time much so if he ever rolls there he gets back over quick!! He LOVES any type of interaction, especially flying through the air as "SuperPreston!" We are going to miss him terribly next week on our trip and hope he really enjoys spending some time with Nana and Pop. More posts when we return.....

Happy New Year!

It is so hard to believe that 2008 has come to an end! It was a life changing year for the Parker family that will be remembered as a great one. We celebrated last night at Squire Creek while Grandfather and Gran-Gran kept Preston. Thanks so much to you both and we wish everyone a wonderful 2009!
