Kindermusik Fun!

As you can imagine, it has become EXTREMELY difficult to get a good picture of Preston these days. He is never still and my camera is pretty slow...maybe I can get a new one for my birthday :)

I just wanted to document our first Kindermusik class this morning. Preston and I will go every Friday this fall--last class is second week in December, I think. I have heard from other mommies how much their kids love it and Preston REALLY did. His favorite by far was the drum, but I was so impressed by how Mrs. Pam had them all following her instructions to a T. He would even CLEAN UP after each activity--that's why I included that picture! I can't wait to see what is in store for the next weeks, and really hope Preston picks up just an interest in music that can be cultivated later on...

PS-Isn't the picture where he is "dusting" funny? When Mrs. Pam said to go dust the chair Preston knew exactly what to do :)

Friday Fun

Even though Preston was still a little tired from his being sick this week, I decided to take him on a playdate yesterday with Mrs. Nancy, Mrs. Katie, Mary Laura, Alex and Cullen. We took the kids to the Northeast Louisiana Children's Museum in Monroe, then for a Chick-fil-A lunch and a mall Carousel ride. I think everyone had a great time! I had never seen the room with the cameras where you ride the kayak and it shows up on the screen. Cull-Cull and Preston loved that! I also included the pic of everyone in "jail" and the pic of Preston brushing the big teeth for his Pop :)
As you can tell, HORRIFIED does not begin to describe Preston's feelings about riding the horsey on the carousel. He reacted that way last time we tried so I almost didn't put him on it. However, there was an older boy-you know how he likes emulating older boys-on the little spinning seat and he LOVED that! Whew....then it was time for a three hour nap...for Mommy and Preston. We need to do this again soon :)

A Krispy Kreme Birthday!

A new tradition may have been born at our house yesterday...the birthday doughnut! Preston was still not feeling 100%, and was still damp from a much needed morning bath--he had sweated off some fever in the night--but he definitely enjoyed our mini-celebration! He even blew out his candle all by himself. (I actually blew it out on accident at his birthday party as I was demonstrating :) We were all happy to have Nana here to join in on the fun.
His nose is still a little runny, but other than that he is back to his normal self. Thanks for all of your concern and have a great weekend!

Good News/Bad News

I'll start with the bad news--I usually like to get it out of the way! Preston woke up this morning ON FIRE with fever, wanted nothing but to sit and watch Dora, and did not want juice OR his waffle. BAD SIGN! So, I called Green Clinic at 8am and got him a 9:00 appt. By the time his Motrin kicked in, he was more himself and even ate his waffle. We still went to the Dr....

TWO very miserable ear washes later (miserable both for Mommy and little man I assure you), we determined he just has a virus. Fever was 101.3 at the Dr, but I think it was creeping up and has been higher than that. By what measure am I determining that, you ask? Well, the Mommy Thermometer. Almost 100% accurate :) Hopefully this little virus will pass quickly. I sure hope so becuase it breaks my heart to see Preston this sickly.

THE GOOD NEWS: We're gonna have a tall one, folks! You know what they say about doubling the height at 2 years being the final height for a person. If that holds true, Preston Luke will be 5'11 1/2" tall! Here are his stats: Weight, 80th percentile; Height 95% percentile; Head circumference: 90% percentile. Aside from today, we have a thriving, JOY of a baby boy and I know I sound like a broked record sometimes but I am just SO GRATEFUL for the blessing he is in our lives.

I'll try to keep updating but for now lets just say no news is good news :) Happy Wednesday!

Ahoy Birthday Boy!

This is by far the most pictures I have EVER included in a blog post, but Sherry Owens took over 200 so it was hard for me to choose :)

Preston's actual birthday isn't until Thursday, the 19th, but we celebrated this weekend with a big Pirate Party at the Trinity Gym. We were very glad so many of our family and friends were able to come and celebrate with us. My 80 +++ grandparents even came up from Alexandria!! I hope you all know how much I love and appreciate all of you--Preston is a lucky little man!

As for the party, I think it was a success. His cake turned out very cute, don't you think, and I hope all of the kiddos had fun. Of course Preston won't remember a thing, but I will never forget the look on his face when we were singing "Happy Birthday" to him. It was like he was thinking, "Are all of these people singing to ME? Is this cake for ME? WOW!"

I did include a picture of the blow up pirate early in the party...and then later on in the party when the children started dragging him around the gym and using him as a bean bag :) Hey, as long as they are having fun, right?

Hope you are having a great week. More later...

Kitchen COMPLETE!

Is was by no means a major rennovation, and it is still not the "kitchen of my dreams" but I can not tell you how happy I am with the little facelift my kitchen underwent this summer. We had already changed the formica countertops to granite 3 1/2 years ago when we moved in, but the cabinets stayed "as is." After said amount of time living in what is a pretty tiny kitchen with those dark cabinets--I was about to lose my mind! Our home is built in Toma Lodge and Squire Creek--SL houseplan-and in each home the wall that separates my kitchen and living room is NOT THERE! So, instead of knocking out a wall we went with some cream cabinets. The way the lightness opened up the room really is amazing. The kitchen/back entry walls also got a fresh coat of light green paint (LOVE!) and the window treatment and shade were just installed today...
Which brings me to a question: Can you tell in the picture that the valance is not quite level? It seems the left set of cabinets above the sink are 1/4 inch (YEP!) higher then the cabinet set on the right. The very capable installer noticed this and pointed it out to me after he had installed the shade level, went to hand the valance level and it was CROOKED! SO, his suggestion was to compensate and knock the right side of the valance down 1/8 inch....but I still see the gap. Am I being ridiculous?
Hope all my blogsphere friends are doing well. Preston has a little summer cold-JUST PERFECT as his big pirate party is this weekend-so please pray he feels better by Saturday!!
love y'all!
PS-I FINALLY found fabric for my Master Bath curtains yesterday...I will post pics of in there when it is "finished."

Rainy Day Playdate

It was such a nice treat do attend a playdate today at Trinity Gym with a great group of girls and their kiddos! We were experiencing a torrential DOWNPOUR in Ruston this morning, so this inside energy burn-off time was MUCH needed :)
We were very excited they blew up the jumpy for us...the same one Preston would not EVEN go inside at Easter--and today he was LOVING it! The mommies had fun too, and I realize how blessed I am to have such great "mom" friends!!
Thanks again, Suzanne, for the invite! Happy Weekend!

Weekend in Winnfield

Just had a few pics to post from our weekend spent in Winnfield with Nana and Pop. Jeff and Pop played in a golf tournament Saturday and Sunday, so Preston and I headed down as well to spend some time with everyone :) The tournament had a Calcutta on Saturday night and I really enjoyed getting to see some old friends..especially Lindsay Smith! How did the tournament go? Well, let's just say everyone had a pretty good weekend....
Hope you are not melting in this heat. I think Jeff is right that we are in El Nino...really cold winter and really hot summer. Here's hoping it will be over soon!
