Happy Mardi Gras!

Whew, we have had a whirlwind weekend at the Parker household. Preston spent Friday night in Winnfield with Nana, Pops, and Aunt Kendal so we could go to a dinner party with friends. Before we picked him up Saturday, Jeff and I sorted cans at CCA. Then, last night "Resa" camve over to put Preston to bed while Mommy and Daddy went to Ruston's Mardi Gras ball. We have had a lot of fun but are looking forward to some downtime today before my CRAZY week starts up. Please keep me in your prayers as I go tommorow to have a mammogram to make sure the abcess that prevented my breastfeeding is not really a cancerous mass. There is NO REASON for me to think that it is, but the surgeon wants to make sure!! Then, Preston starts MDO Tuesday and I am headed to Shreveport to train for my new consulting job. Well, that's about as far ahead as I can think right now and keep my sanity. Hope you are all doing well--spring is almost here!!

First Valentine's Day

Well, I resisted the temptation to buy Preston a "Valentine" outfit because I will have to admit that is pretty girly! However, we really got into the Valentine's spirit and tried to make it a memorable one for the love of our LIFE! He loved the Valentine's he received--he really just wanted to eat them but that means he likes it!! And, don't tell the pediatrician, but we did give him a CRUMB of Valentine cupcake, which he immediately spit out!! Oh well, no harm done. Jeff and I had a wonderful dinner at the Olive Street Bistro Saturday night (thanks again Nana and Pops!) and we had a great weekend together. My love to all and hope you had a happy HEART day!

Wait just a minute, I think I am sitting up by myself!

Just a quick post to tell you that Preston is a champ at sitting up now! When he is rested, he can go a good 10 minute stretch before he decides he wants something on the other side of the pack-n-play and falls face forward to get it. (Which is then followed by a breakdown--babysteps!) If you notice my last post he is leaning on the sides but in this one is holding himself up completely. Wow--he is getting so big so FAST! Kind of makes me a little sad....but happy that he is doing so well :)

Weekend at Home

Whew--it was sure nice to have an uneventful weekend spent at HOME! Jeff played a few holes with his new irons Friday afternoon, and we spent Friday night at the Hunt's house with all the kiddos in tow...and had a great time. Saturday was a gorgeous day, and we took Preston out to Squire Creek for a relaxing post-lunch stroll then spent a quiet night at home. We went to church this morning as a family, and Preston was especially adorable dressed in all white if I do say so myself!! Now, I hope to catch a nap then get ready for our busy week ahead :) Oh, and I included the picture of Preston sitting up to tell you how STRONG he is getting and will be sitting up very soon. It is so amazing to watch how he does better each time I sit him up....

First Rice Cereal

Realizing that everyone in both Jeff and my family thinks we have been starving Preston, even though I have been following American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines for waiting until 6 months, I decided today to give Preston some rice cereal. Boy--did he LOVE it. He was lapping it up off the spoon and getting so excited he was breathing heavily--giving new meaning to the term "inhaling" your food :) He finished what I made for him initially, so Jeff was home and he went back to make MORE. As we speak, Jeff is giving him his last bottle and he is so stuffed he can barely finish it......hope he continues to sleep as well as he has been. Oh, and I am not upset at anyone for thinking it was time for me to do solids--you were right!! I am just a rule follower and thought the correct time would present itself. Hope everyone is having a great week......

Goal Attained!

Even though I promised myself that I would not feel like a failure if I did not run my half-marathon under 2 hours, I REALLY had my heart set upon doing so!!! And I am proud to say, with a lot of support from my friend Nancy, that I finished in 1:57!!!! The race course in New Orleans was super flat, and I ran in grassy path of the trolley car when I could (easier on my feet!) At the fininsh, I was so emotional and had a MAJOR runner's high. I am so grateful for the support of my husband to allow me to have this experience. He had to do a lot of AM bottle duty while mommy was at the gym. Oh, and our room at the Ritz was fabulous--as was the post-race champagne brunch! We missed Preston Luke and were so glad to pick him up last night. Thanks again Gran-Gran and Grandfather!!
